Synopsis:
Some guys should come with a warning label . . .

Sawyer West is Mr. One-Night Stand. He doesn’t do relationships or promises or feelings. He’s never cared enough to get involved. Until Lily Roberts. She’s sweet and shy and sexy as sin, and resisting her is testing his self-control. She believes Sawyer can be a better man, and for the first time in his life, he wants to be. But change isn’t easy, and Sawyer would do anything to protect Lily from his past self. Even break his own heart . . .

Review:

Although in a way this book could be read as a stand alone, I wouldn’t recommend it. The first book was full of character development and without that foundation I think you would miss an aspect of who the characters are. Not only would you miss a part of their backstory, but I think the beginning would lack a certain degree of depth. In other words, read the first book. If you missed review, you can find it here.

Like I mentioned, this book doesn’t miss a beat. It opens will Lily in complete turmoil over needing to break up with her 11 year boyfriend but not wanting to throw everything they had away. Of course sexy, confident Sawyer also has something to do with how she feels.

Sawyer has a dysfunctional family. Although he tries his best to separate himself from them, he is scared he will become just like them. So when Lily tells him she is single, hoping to turn their friendship into more, Sawyer is too scared to move forward.

This story is not what I expected. The depth of both Sawyer and Lily pulls the reader into the story. Lily is not who I thought she was. She has secrets she desperately tries to hide. Both characters fall deep for each other and their feels get intense fast. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t the intense that leaves you unable to put the book down. No, this is the kind that you know is going to come crashing down on them and end badly. The only question is when..

The plot is slightly predictable and I can’t say I love Lily as much as I did Shay. But still, I find myself getting pulled along on this emotional roller coaster that is Sawyer and Lily. And the ending!! It’s complete gush worthy. Regardless of the complexity of issues both Sawyer and Lily face, this is a great love story. I can’t wait for the next book to come out!!
