Sculpt is an illegal fighter. He’s also the lead singer of a local rock band. No one knows his real name. And from the moment I met him, he made me forget mine. In order to convince Sculpt to give me self-defense lessons, I had to follow his one rule—no complaining or he’d walk. I didn’t think it would be a problem. I could handle a few bruises. What I hadn’t anticipated was landing on my back with Sculpt on top of me and my entire body burning up for him.
I tried to ignore it. I failed of course. And having a hot, tattooed badass on top of me week after week, acting completely immune to what he was doing to my body—it was frustrating as hell, so I broke his rule—I complained. Then he kissed me.
Overall the story is fast paced and easy to get wrapped up in the characters and the drama that the author creates. The downfall in this story is how short it is. If the story was longer, I would have given the story 5 stars. The author does a wonderful job creating a dominate male who is both alluring and dangerous. The main character Emily is very weak and her self loathing/lack of confidence is borderline annoying and unattractive. But the author hints at a stronger, powerful personality that is hidden within Emily.
The main character is Emily who has low self-esteem from her mothers constant criticism and overall dislike of her. That piled on with weight issues and bullying when she was younger, it’s no wonder her nickname is mouse. Although both her parents are dead and she lives with her friend and her brother, she is unable to maintain any self confidence. After being attacked and nearly raped, Emily seeks the help of Sculpt in hopes he will teach her to fight. After thoroughly claiming Emily is not his type, thus deepening her self loathing and reinforcing her lack of confidence, Sculpt agrees to teach Emily to fight. Five weeks later, Sculpt takes full control over Emily- demanding she begins dating him and dictating the rules of there relationship. There relationship develops quickly but the only thing Sculpt reveals about himself is that his real name is Logan. Otherwise she knows nothing about him. By the end of the story, Emily goes to see Sculpt play at a bar where she is drugged and kidnaped.
Overall I really enjoyed this book but it does end with a cliff-hanger.
